David Yeo, Executive Chef, Asia de Cuba

David Yeo has been appointed the Executive Chef for Asia de Cuba, one of San Francisco's best-known destination dining restaurants. He brings with him a personal recipe for success - "start with a passion for food, the best ingredients, a lively atmosphere and the result will be a memorable experience."

Recently a corporate chef for Straits Restaurants, Chef Yeo began him culinary career growing up in Malaysia. He worked for his uncle at Singapore's Mandarin Hotel and, as a teenager, met Paul Bocuse. Yeo subsequently worked in world-renowned kitchens including Robuchon in Paris (with Joel Robuchon), Louis XV in Monaco (with Sylvan Portay and Alain Ducasse) and Le Cirque and Tavern on the Green in New York.

Yeo's educational background includes a degree in Economics from the University of Arkansas plus a Music Diploma from Her Majesty's Royal Academy of Music in London and a diploma from the Yamaha Music Foundation in Tokyo. He spent two years in the brokerage profession in New York's financial district before deciding to pursue his passion for the culinary arts and become a chef. Chef Yeo currently resides in San Jose, where, with his wife, he enjoys sailing when he is not in the kitchen.

His experience and inspiration have enabled Yeo to introduce a delicious new Asia de Cuba menu that includes signature dishes like Cuban Chicken with Avocado Fruit Salsa and Tamarind Sauce, Asian Spiced Pork Spare Ribs with Roasted Corn, Avocado Salad and Pickled Onion Escabeche and Tunapica with Soy-Lime Vinaigrette and Wonton Crisps.

Asia de Cuba serves its critically acclaimed cuisine. In addition to their stellar food, Asia de Cuba offers a full bar serving some of San Francisco's finest cocktails and an extensive wine list in the Redwood Room.
